Return to the office

Behavior László Tiborcz, our chief operating officer, asked HR – Magazine about Returning to the office.

„Since we’ve practically been back in the office since the beginning of the summer, do we have to deal with the next problem, how do we keep our colleagues?

We’ve determined the method and process of returning on the basis of the opinions of our colleagues, which we laid down in our regulations and we put great emphasize on communicating it properly for the employees. We have taken into account possible negative effects during the design, such as:

  • loss of efficiency due to lack of personal contacts
  • increasing fluctuation
  • introducing a new colleague / arranging knowledge transfer
  • shifting working hours, upsetting work-life balance

Our further experience is that where individual work is done in a larger block e.g. development, writing a document, working at home can be useful, but where more people have to think together, for example: designing creative solutions, putting together plans, features – the work done remotely is slower. Based on these, the rule is 3-4 offices – 1-2 work from home, of which office attendance is mandatory on Mondays and Tuesdays, so there are days during the week when everyone can meet each other and we can keep team cohesion easier. Of course, it is also assured in the return that we are constantly developing our office, which already meets the expectations. This was complemented by the organization of well-prepared team-building programs started in the past, which created a good atmosphere and cohesion among colleagues, which was further deepened by the office presence.

We returned back to the office gradually never losing sight of providing safe work environment and we prepared the whole process based on the feedback of our colleagues. However, the effectiveness of the new working method will be further verified. For companies that are about to return, I recommend that you consider the potential risks when considering the rules applied in a changed situation and consider the effects according to an appropriate set of criteria and make long-term decisions.”

Thank you for the opportunity!
